Grace Reformed Baptist Church

Membership Resolutions

By the grace of God we have been led to repent of our sins and believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We have confessed our faith and have been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Now, therefore, as a professing believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the presence of God and by His grace, we joyfully and solemnly enter into agreement concerning these resolutions with the members of Grace Reformed Baptist Church.

We resolve to walk together in Christian love through the power of the Holy Spirit.  [1 Corinthians 13; Galatians 6:9-10; Hebrews 10:19-25; 1 John 5:1-3; 2 John 6]

We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, but faithfully resolve to attend corporate worship on the Lord’s Day (Sunday), as modeled in Scripture by the New Testament Church. We will also resolve to use our spiritual gifts for the common good.   [Luke 24:1-2; Acts 2:42; Acts 20:7; Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12; Hebrews 10:25; 1 Peter 4:10]

We resolve to support the ordinances and doctrines of this church. We resolve both to submit the church’s discipline upon ourselves and to lovingly assume our responsibility to participate in the discipline of other members, as taught in Scripture.   [Galatians 1:8-9; Hebrews 13:9; Matthew 18:15-17; Hebrews 13:7-17; 1 Timothy 5:17]

We resolve to contribute cheerfully and regularly to this church for its general ministry and expenses related to the faithful teaching and preaching of the Word to the saints, the proclamation of the Gospel to the lost throughout the world, and the relief of the poor.    [Malachi 3:10; Luke 21:1-4; 1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8:14; 2 Corinthians 9:6-7]

We resolve to strive by God’s grace and power to live as Christ in the world; and denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we will seek to fulfill our calling to lead a holy life and to be salt and light.  [Matthew 5:13-20; 1 Timothy 4:7-8]

We resolve to be just and honest in our dealings and faithful in our responsibilities and commitments.  [Matthew 7:12; Titus 2:11-12]

We resolve to abide by the standards of sexual purity, ethical integrity, and spiritual fidelity as taught in the Bible.  [1 Corinthians 10:8; Hebrews 12:16,13:4; 1 Peter 2:11-12; 1 Timothy 6:11; 2 Timothy 2:22]

We resolve to reject all heretical beliefs and practices, using Scripture as our final authority.  [Galatians 1:8-9; Titus 2:1; 2 Timothy 1:13-14; Jude 3]

We resolve to watch over one another in brotherly love, to remember one another in prayer, to help one another in sickness and distress, and to cultivate Christian compassion and courtesy. [Matthew 7:12; 1 Corinthians 12:26-27; Hebrews 12:14; Hebrews 13:1-3,6,16; 1 John 4:7-12]

Believing that the pursuit of peace with others and personal holiness accompanies true faith in Christ, we resolve to be slow to take offense, always eager to seek the reconciliation Christ commands, and will work to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.   [1 Corinthians 12:26-27; Hebrews 12:14; Matthew 7:12; Ephesians 4:1-6; 1 John 2:9-11]

We resolve to practice personal and family worship, to train our children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, and to seek the salvation of our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, acquaintances, and of all the world.  [Proverbs 22:6; Matthew 28:19-20]

We resolve that when we leave this church we will diligently seek to unite with another church where we can continue to carry out the spirit and principles of God’s Word.   [Hebrews 10:25]
